The same approach can help improve HPV vaccination. When people understand the benefits of vaccination and feel supported in their decisions, more families choose to protect themselves and their communities.
HPV affects both women and men. The virus spreads through close contact, which means everyone can play a role in stopping its spread.
For many years, vaccination programmes focused mainly on girls because of the strong link between HPV and cervical cancer. Today, research shows that vaccinating both boys and girls provides stronger protection for the whole community [16,17].
Gender-neutral HPV vaccination offers several important benefits. It helps reduce the spread of the virus, strengthens herd immunity, protects future partners, and supports greater health equity.
